Pete Allen Silverthorne

Today one of the best-kept secrets of the past couple of years was finally revealed: the newest addition to the Silverthorne family. Unbeknownst to even Andrea and Bryan (i.e., the parents) themselves, this morning at 8:11 AM, April 5 in the year of our Lord 2008, they were blessed with a beautiful and perfectly healthy baby boy.

Pete Allen Silverthorne was born at 8:11 AM on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview, Texas. He weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces and measured in at 21 inches in length. Pete was delivered by family obstetrician, Dr. James Mauldin.

Andrea, over a week past due, missed induction (i.e. inducement) by a meager 48 hours. While having been dilated the entire past week, there had not been much evidence to suggest Pete would come as a thief in the night. But he did. Having checked into the hospital shortly before 6 AM, the Silverthorne's first son was delivered just over two hours later!

The day was cause for much celebration friends, family, and well-wishers stopped by to see the strapping young lad. Bryan and Andrea welcomed their son into the world, and Aubrey was thrust into the role of BIG SISTER!

The parents being hole up in the hospital, I've been given the honorary privilege of guest-blogging the Silverthorne's big news. (Check back soon to see some video footage documenting the morning's events!)

I know all loyal Silverthorne Sentinal readers join me in congratulating Bryan and Andrea on the birth of their beautiful bouncing baby boy, Pete Allen Silverthorne.

P.S. Also, congratulations to all the correct pollsters...(see top left-hand corner of blog for clarification)

40 weeks plus

My due date was yesterday so I guess our baby has decided to stay in my tummy for a little while longer. I am really okay with that because I feel good and the baby is healthy too (that is the most important thing). Bryan and I talked and we want to have a natural birth so hopefully the baby will just come on his or her own. I am starting to get a little pain in my lower back and some pains in my legs when I walk, but other than that, everything is good. Also, it is nice have an end in sight. My Dr. says I am dilated to a 4 and has me scheduled to be induced on Monday morning (April 7th) if I don't have the baby by then. I will keep you updated on any other progress but for now, this is my status.

Bonnie wee bunny

We had a wonderful time celebrating Resurrection Day with our family. Here is Aubrey with her Grandad & Nana.

We had a great time cooking out and eating at their house after church. Aunt G and Uncle Buss stopped by too so it was good to see them:
Later that evening we had a lot of fun with Drew, Charlotte, Alyse & Alex. My mom bought Aubrey, Alyse and Alex the same style of Easter dresses. SO CUTE!
We took some pictures to show her and I thought I would share them with you. By the way, it is very hard to take a picture of a 10 month old and 2 year olds together.

A Lady In Waiting AGAIN

Well, here I am again, a little over 2 years from when I was waiting for Aubrey to enter into the world. Now, we are excited to be close to meeting our second child. I am all about the parallel pictures so I thought it would be fun to create a similar post to one I titled "A Lady In Waiting" almost 2 years ago. It is amazing how different things can be but yet so similar (ponder that a while if you will)
We feel so blessed that both of these pregnancy's have gone well and we pray that this delivery will be a smooth one also. We will try to keep you up to date as events occur. As of right now, we are going to wait for the baby to come on it's own so I guess time will only tell when his or her birthday will be. I have an appointment with Dr. Mauldin on Monday so I will know then how much I am dilated.

Great Friday

We had a fun filled day today. This morning we had a full breakfast here at our house and then headed off to The Courthouse Athletic Club (where I work out) and met Jessica and her kiddos for an easter egg hunt. Aubrey was a lot more alert this year than she was last year. We had a great time there and had fun running all around with her daddy, picking up lots of eggs. We had a good time hanging out the Jessica, Aaden and Rylan as well.

It was crazy to think about how much Aubrey has grown in just a year. Last year when we went to this egg hunt, she could hardly even pick up an egg. This year, she was all over the place! She is still scared of the easter bunny and rightfully so, that guy is creepy!

After eating a little candy, some lunch and taking a nap, we were off to Patterson Park. We took Buck and walked the trail for about a mile up to the park where Daddy and Aubrey played while Buck and I looked on. It was a beautiful evening!

To top it all off, Bryan took us out to Chick-fil-a for some icedream (yes, I meant to put DREAM - because that is they market it)

This day was a great day! We are so thankful we each can live a victorious life because of the sacrifice Christ made for us.

All my bags are packed and I'm ready to go...

Well, today I am officially 37 weeks pregnant, full-term, and we are very excited. So now that I know I could have a baby any day, I decided to solidify some things. Now, we are actively preparing to go to the hospital at any time and are getting everything ready.

Preregistered at Good Shepherd? CHECK,
Birth Plan? CHECK,
Mentally Prepared? CHECK,
Baby necessities? CHECK,
Car seat ready? CHECK
Bed ready? CHECK
Bags packed? CHECK,

I don't know many people who wait to find out the sex of the baby so I don't really know how other people in our boat handle this situation. However, I really wanted to have some gender specific clothes ready for him or her when he or she gets home. This is what I have done: In the little, cheap, plastic drawers in our closet, I have one drawer filled with newborn neutral clothes, one with girl clothes and one with boy clothes. So now we are good to go!

I wish I could explain to you how it feels to not only anticipate the arrival of our child but also find out the baby's gender at the same time. It for sure makes the delivery part a lot more exciting for us.

OUR HOSPITAL BAG
- Bryan and I put a few items in the backpack we intend to take with us to the hospital that are somewhat special to us.

1. A handmade outfit that Aubrey wore home. My dear friend (Sara Gunter, whom I have been friends with since the 7th grade) handmade an outfit for Aubrey, which we put Aubrey in when we took her home from the hospital. I intend for each of my children to come home in this outfit, given that they can each fit in it.

2. Bryan's favorite shirt. It is the same shirt he wore when Aubrey was born and it holds special sentiment to both of us. (NOTE: it will be a little looser on Bryan this time around seeing as how he has not gained 30 lbs this pregnancy like he did when I was pregnant with Aubrey)

3. My sports watch. Bryan bought this watch for me and I had it on when I went into labor with Aubrey. I like to think of delivering a baby as a sport (I know it my sound weird to some of you but hopefully at least one person gets me) in the sense that I had my sites on a goal and was physically and mentally prepared to attain that goal (no pain, no gain - am I right?)

I will keep you informed as the due date draws near. I go to the Dr. on Tuesday so I will keep you updated on any progress. Hopefully in the very near future I will be able to show you pictures of our new little addition!

PARTY ON Ladybug!

This past Saturday we had a party for Aubs' 2nd birthday and invited family and a few friends. It was a great time! I think Aubrey really enjoyed being around most of her favorite people all at once. Aubrey received a bunch of fun gifts and we had pizza, ice cream and ladybug cupcakes.
A good time was had by all.

Here are just a few fun pictures from the party:

We are here to PUMP, YOU UP!

This past Monday, since it was the day before Aubrey's birthday, daddy decided to join us at Pump It Up (the inflatable party zone). It is really neat because Mondays, from 9:30am to 11am is what is called "preschool time" for kids 6 and under so it is nice for Aubrey to go and not be trampled by older kiddos. It is also fun because we can meet her two buddies from church, "Gwayson" and "Mal-Mal" as she calls them. Anyway, Aubrey and I have gone several times but my play time with her is somewhat limited since I am on my last lap of pregnancy so Daddy being there was SO COOL for her. Drew also came with Grayson so it was fun to have the guys there helping out and playing too. I seriously think they had as much fun if not more fun than the kids.
Here are a couple of clips of Bryan and Drew playing with Aubrey, Grayson and Mallory. The laughing you hear in the background is Amy Porter and I cracking up mainly at the dads. It was so fun to see everyone having such a great time.

I managed to get a few photos of the kiddos but I was inside the bounce house taking them so needless to say it was a little bumpy and the lighting is a little bad so the pictures did not turn out how I wanted them. Here are a couple of the better ones though.

By the way, the title of my post is in reference to the old SNL skit, "Hans and Franz" preformed by Dana Carvey (one of my personal favorites) and Kevin Nealon.

Whoo-hoo for 2

Well, our little girl turned 2 today. It is really hard to believe it has been 2 years but then again, I can't imagine our life without our precious ladybug. We have enjoyed her sweet nature, loving spirit and sense of humor. Here's to a wonderful 2 years!!
I could go on and on but I will just share a couple of pictures to show how much our girl has grown:

PS. Thanks Angie for the idea for the title of this post. Can't wait to see you guys this weekend.

"Cleva Girl"

The other night Bryan gave Aubrey a bath and then they put away all of the bath toys before she went to bed. The next day Bryan asked me if I had given her another bath and I said, "No, but I did let her play in the bath tub while I was getting ready." He then proceeded to show me what our little Einstein had done. (Mind you, this is something neither of us had ever shown her) She unstacked her colorful stacking cups, lined them up and placed her bath toys according to color in each cup (excluding the red cup, however, two of the ducks in the red cup have red accents). Needless to say, we were pretty impressed.

Side note: the title of this post is a quote from one of my all time favorite Steven Spielberg movies, Jurassic Park.
