All up in my crib

She can finally stand on her own two feet!
Just in the past couple of days, Aubrey has been pulling herself up so she could stand with the support of the couch and in her crib. We actually had to lower the bed in her crib so she couldn't climb out.

Say my name, say my name...

As of this past week, Aubrey is 8 months old. She is getting so big. She is a little over 18 lbs. now and is getting so tall. Her newest thing to say is "Da-da." Her newest gesture to make is shaking her head no. She can say "bye-bye" and wave, which is something she likes to do a lot. She will also say "BU" when she sees BUCK. She hasn't got the CK sound yet but she is working on that. And my favorite, "Ma-ma." AHH, like music to my ears! Here are a couple of recent pictures of her. I intend to post more of her (in her new duds that Nana bought for her) this week.

Back in the swing of things...

I just realized that I haven't posted a single thing this month. We have been a little "under the weather" so that is my excuse. I didn't think you all would like to see pictures of Aubrey with a runny nose, even though that is pretty cute.
This past Saturday, Bryan took Aubrey over to our little community park and took her for her first "real swing." She was tired even before she started swinging but Bryan said she enjoyed it none-the-less.


Meanwhile, the girls (Laura and Beth) and I went to a local fun-run called "Thundering Sneakers" in the hick town of Henderson Texas. I thought we were just going up there to take a casual 3 mile run. I was unaware that people had been practicing in advance for this thing. We had a good time though and plan to attend next year.

Another Aubrey Update

Aubrey had her "6 month" appointment which was actually 7 months exactly. The Dr. said that she is doing great! She is the average weight for her age and is a little above average in height. Here are some pictures of her progression.

Family Summit - Pitkin Trip

We had a short and sweet trip to Pitkin the week before last and had a good time. Aubrey did so well on this long trip. She can really sit up well now and I have noticed that she loves the attention...and she certainly gets enough of it when Mom, Dad, Grand-dad and Nana are around.

At 6 1/2 months, Aubrey seems to be right on track. It is really has been amazing to see her transition in just the past couple of weeks from rolling over, to sitting up without support, and now scooting on the floor. If you don't believe me, check out this picture and video.

A week ago, Aubrey turned 6 months old and ate rice cereal for the first time. She really enjoyed eating and seemed like a natural. For now all she is having is mother's milk and the rice cereal. We will add more colorful stuff in the near future which will lead to some cute, messy pictures, but for now, here ya go...

Gunter Twins

The Gunter twins are here! Sara did so well during the pregnancy and birth of her handsome sons. They were born at a quarter til midnight on the 22nd of this month and were named Michael William and Owen Wallace. Amy and I were able to make it to Athens in time to see the boys just after they were born.

Buckner's first groom

Today Buckner received his first groom so I thought I would post it for all to see. I don't know why we didn't do this at the first of the summer because has been shedding so much and because of the heat.

Baby-Carotene

Aubrey's second tooth is trying to break through now but until it does, she has random crying spells. When she started up today I remembered a tip her Dr. told me during Aubrey's last visit. She advised me to get a cold carrot and let her teeth on it. I think it is apparent in these pictures that Aubrey really liked it.
Caution: Do not leave a child unattended with a carrot in order to prevent eye injury and/or gagging.

Atta Boy, Buckner

It is precious to see Aubrey and Buckner not only getting use to the idea of sharing attention, but really having fun with each other. I was worried at first that Buck would be jealous but he has really warmed up to our little one and is very protective of her.
Here is a brief clip of him entertaining her; and YES, I do let him lick on her, not usually this much but I was about to give her a bath anyway so lick away big boy!

First tooth, what?

Two days ago Aubrey's bottom tooth finally surfaced, making it a monumental day for her...her FIRST TOOTH! As exciting as it was, there are still more to follow which means a little more fussiness but it is all part of growing right? Growing Pains! Anyway, I just wanted to post this to show you how she is sometimes from one minute to the next...

Aubrey Update

Aubrey just had her 4 month check-up this week with her pediatrician. (she actually will be 5 months on the 19th)

From the mountains to the prairies

Here are a few pictures from our trip to Pitkin, CO.
Aubrey loved being carried around in her baby bjorn. Also, we read up on baby sickness at high altitudes and I got kind of concerned but Aubrey seemed to adjust nicely. She really loves being in the great outdoors. This past week in Pitkin also marked a special time because it was Aubrey's first time to roll from her stomach to her back.
