Texas Rangers vs. Chicago White Sox

For Bryan's birthday, I purchased ticket for a Ranger's game. We actually got even closer seats than we thought because once we got to the game, someone asked us if we would like to upgrade our tickets for FREE and of course we said "SURE." The Rangers won 5 to 1 and Bryan seemed to enjoy it; I for sure did. We left Aubrey with Darrell and Debbie and just hung out like the good old days.
Here are more pictures from our night out:

Also, I thought you would enjoy this little video. I thought Bryan was taking a picture of us. You can tell that I have my "picture smile" down!

PS. The tickets were purchased through stubhub and I was really impressed with their service and I will use them again in the future.

Happy 31st Babe!

YOU'VE COME A LONG WAY!

We celebrated Bryan's birthday yesterday and had a good time. We have all been feeling "under the weather" but we felt good enough to go out with Darrell and Debbie to the Texas Roadhouse (one of Bryan's favorites). Afterwards, Bryan, Aubrey and I came home and ate Bryers Oreo ice cream and just spent some good family time together.
And many more...

In Pitkin with the Kitchens

I have been meaning to post this slide show since we have got back from Pitkin. I hope you enjoy. We went to Pitkin 2 weeks ago with the Kitchens and stayed for about a week. We had fun hiking, walking through the town, napping, playing games (monopoly & skip-bo), and checking out Gunnison. Clay and Melissa also went to the Three Rivers one day and went rafting. SO FUN!
Anyway, here it is! Clay Kitchens took almost all of the pictures. He had a lot of neat pictures. As you can tell, we had lots of fun!

Won't you sing with me?

Aubrey loves to hear the ABC song and especially loves to sing it!
It is fun for her to make all of the fun, new sounds she has been processing.
Check it out!

"Farwell Sweet Honda"

Well, we finally sold our Accord!
We have talked about it for some time now because we have already have a good family vehicle (the truck), also Bryan has a work truck he drives to his job sites.
It was a bitter sweet thing when I drove it over to it's new owner's house but I can honestly say that we parted on great terms (no wrecks, few scratches, no breakdowns). For those of you who are wondering about the 2004 Honda Accord EX, it is an awesome car and I have nothing but good things to say about it. So I post this simply to say, "So long, so long, so long and thanks for the ride!"

Oh Homie!

The Simpsons Movie just came out yesterday. I wasn't able to watch it but I was thinking about it when I came across this picture of Amy in the Bartlesville Wesleyan College (now Oklahoma Wesleyan University) yearbook. Ah, my sister was a great Marge Simpson. We both had went to this "Never Alone Banquet" with some guy friends of ours and were the most controversial couples there (for a private college). Amy and her date went as "Homer & Marge Simpson" (her friend was a terrible Homer) and me and my date went as "Austin Powers and Felicity Shagwell," I know, NOT one of my prouder moments. We had fun none the less and Amy shined that night with a 2 liter coke bottle tucked under her hair, standing on top of her head and her hair spray painted blue...it was wonderful. I remember going out to Sonic after the banquet and we had a hard time getting Amy's hair into the car. Fun times! Thanks Amy for this wonderful memory.
I will leave you now with my favorite performance by Marge in "The Street Car Named Desire" as Blanche DuBois.

Stool Boom

Bryan purchased and assembled a stool (from IKEA) for Aubrey. Now, she mainly uses it to stand on while she brushes her teeth. She loves it. I noticed there was a sticker that came with it which illustrates the wrong way to use a stool. Thanks IKEA for helping "so we can be safe."

I especially love the illustration on the bottom right...do not step off of the stool the wrong way!

As I was creating this post, the song "Stool Boom" from Waiting for Guffman was playing in my head...I thought I would leave you with that as well.

One great picture - 2006

Bryan put this picture on my desktop and I noticed that it was taken a year ago. My how time flies.I have always loved this picture of a proud dad holding out his sweet, beautiful daughter. I especially love Aubrey's eyes in this picture.

4th of July in Pitkin

Our trip in Pitkin, Colorado for Independence Day was a success!
It is always fun hanging out with our wonderful family, hiking, enjoying the great outdoors, and watching striking fireworks in Gunnison. For those of you who don't check out our flickr account, check out The Bussey World Blog, (my sister-in-law and her husband's blog) for a sweet slideshow of our trip.

D-D-D-D-D-DORA!

I went for a while without showing Dora to Aubrey and she did pretty good. Blues Clues and Kipper will usually do the trick when she watches TV but it is amusing to watch her dance to the Dora theme song every now and again. Check it out! Oh yah, and excuse my singing in the background...I have kid songs running through my head constantly. MAKE IT STOP!

Anyway, at least this video is a lot cuter than some creepy Dora wannabees I have seen.

Our precious niece (Evelyn Butler) is here!

Evelyn Jane Butler was born (at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper) Saturday, June 23rd at 8:01am. Amy was to be induced on Monday, June 25th but was happy to have little Evie before that time. Evelyn was 21 1/2 inches and weighed 8lbs 13oz. I didn't get to be at the hospital at the time of her birth but Aubrey and I were in route to meet her. Here are a few pictures of Evies first 2 days out of the womb.

Paul Bunyan & his trusty ox, Babe

We went to the Paul Bunyan camp in Eau Claire WI and learned all about him today so I thought I would share pictures and his story:
The legend of Paul Bunyan is the creation of lumberjacks from Canada to the United States and from Maine to the Pacific Northwest. It probably had its roots in a real person. There was a soldier, named Paul Bunyan, who fought with Papineau in the French-Canadian revolt of 1837. The Paul Bunyan was a fierce soldier, taller and stronger than most and he did own a lumber business after his military career. Because he was fair and highly respected leader, stories began to be told about him in the logging camps of Canada.

Lumberjacks in the U.S.A., many of whom came down from Canada enjoyed a good yarn. The tales about Paul Bunyan moved westward with them from Maine to the Pacific coast along with the constant search for new stands of timber. The tall tales of Paul and Babe, his big blue ox, grew constantly as lumberjacks competed to one-up the previous yarn spinner and tell an even more fantastic tale during the long winter evenings in the bunkhouse. Often the tales took on certain regional details like Paul's fingerprints forming the Finger Lakes of upstate New York, or footprints of his blue ox, Babe, filling with water all over Minnesota to form the 10,000 lakes or Paul's careless dragging of his gigantic ace forming the Grand Canyon. It didn't take long for the "jawin" lumberjacks to expand on the many stories of Paul Bunyan's fabled logging exploits. Soon a whole cast of characters was added. Sourdough Sam was busy strapping bacon squares to the feet of his cook's-helpers so that could skate around on Paul's gigantic flapjack griddle greasing it for the many batches of cakes it took to feed the Paul Bunyan crew. Swede Ole, the blacksmith, was hammering out over-sized shoes for Babe's mighty hoofs and Johnny Ink slinger was keeping complete records of the entire goings on in the camp. All the while old Paul was hitchin up Babe to the Mississippi river to stretch and straighten some snaky curves that were "jammin" up the log flow. The amazing feats of Paul and his crew are well known over the northern portion of America. Many localities claim to be Paul's birthplace or proclaim themselves as the site of his famous Lumber camp in order to identify with the broad shouldered, "can do" image of this folk icon. What must be remembered is that Paul's Tall Tales are large enough for all to share.

Growing like a weed...a flower I mean

I saw this on my fridge and thought I would share it. Aubrey gave this to me after being in the nursery (she made it with the help of the nursery caregivers) for Mother's Day. It makes me happy every time I see it. I leave you also a picture of Aubrey that melts my heart.

Somebody promised me the sunshine...

These first pictures were taken with Bryan's camera phone on Friday evening. I was out with my old roommates celebrating a birthday and he called and said there was a full rainbow outside our house. I didn't realize how brilliant it was until I saw these pictures! I don't use my camera phone a lot but it is nice to have them for times such as these:

Drew got a great shot of the sky later on that evening.

SIDE NOTE: As for the title of this post, it is a line from the song Roses and Rainbows sung by Julie Budd in the 1981 Disney film The Devil and Max Devlin. I've been wanting to watch this movie again for a while (simply for nostalgic purposes) but can't find it on Netflix.

Have you been to Baia my friend?

This song has been in my head lately so I just thought today I would look it up and just like most things, it was right at my fingertips. Does anyone would remember this random episode? I am quite confident of that my siblings will.
Have you been to Baia?
